FCF will distribute over $12,000 in Back To School vouchers in 2013
The Foundation has been successful in securing $12,200 in $50 vouchers through the 2013 Sidney Myer Fund/FRRR 2013 Back To School Program. The vouchers will assist 244 students from the 12 schools across the Fleurieu who are experiencing economic hardship with the costs associated with the start of the school year.
This year the Fleurieu Community Foundation took part in the 'Back To School Community Foundation Challenge' to raise $1000 in the community, which is being matched by FRRR - and increasing the impact, by providing an additional 40 Target Country vouchers valued at $2000.
Thankyou to everyone who donated to to the 'Back To School Community Foundation Challenge' and to FRRR and the Sidney Myer fund who enable us to provide assistance at a grass roots level.
To date the Back to School Program has enabled the FCF to distribute of over $26,000, to more than 690 disadvantaged students and their families to assist with the costs of starting the school year.

Taking part in the Challenge has resulted in an expansion of the program to include a further 40 young people who are part of the FLO (Flexible Learning Options) Programs which work with young people who are disengaged or experiencing barriers to attending school. The vouchers can assist these young people with specific expenses for pre vocation and other alternative training or educational options, for items like safety boots or overalls needed for courses, or stationery items for TAFE. Thanks again to all who contributed to the Challege.
